The Love of Writing

It feels like I’ve always been writing. All through my life I’ve written. Most of the novels putter out and never got finished, but I always wrote.

A star trek story. A Dawn of the Dead sequel back in 1979. A sequel to Alien. And I started getting creative, trying to create my own science fiction worlds. I tried writing stuff later on in the 90’s. A sequel to THEM (how can you hate giant ants?).

Only in the last few years have I gotten good at it, made it a priority to learn how to do it. I write because I enjoy it, I love it. There’s no feeling as good as completing a novel (and no drudgery worse than editing one).

If you love writing like I do, where you’re constantly trying to come up with novels and ideas, then make sure you get novel writing software. You get books and seminars on it. I’ve bought a ton of seminars, and quite a few books. I’ve bought so many books on it I’m still going through them!

Never give up. Keep following your dream. If it happens, it was meant to be. If not, then you’ve written, and finished several books that you enjoy. Don’t chase success by trying to write books that will sell – write the kind of books you want to read.

That’s the key. Write those books.

Because other people will want to read them too.

Never give up.
