iMac?

Is it worth it to buy an iMac?

Three factors to keep in mind…

Price. Do you have the cash to dedicate to upgrading to a Mac just for writing? If you have to think twice before spending a couple of hundred dollars on something, a two thousand dollar machine is probably not wise. The cost factor of a Mac is much higher than most Windows machines.
New Operating System. If you’re a Windows power user and know all the fast key combinations and tweaks, switching to a Mac might be frustrating. You’ll have to completely re-do your workflow. This is only temporary, but how well do you handle frustration? This question is the key.
Software Compatibility. Yes, Scrivener will run better. But… what other software do you use regularly? On a typical day, I alternate between Scrivener, Filmora, Logos Bible software, and a few other software titles such as Riffworks. Interoperability between Os is hit or miss in some of these titles. If you use a lot of programs that are Windows based, they may not work as well in Mac OS (witness Accordance Bible’s performance in Windows – it crashes often).

Summary

If you’re going to devote most of your time to Scrivener and writing, then the Mac option is a possibility. If writing is only part of your creative focus, then you might find you need to stick with a Windows machine.
